HASAN KARACADAG


Hasan Karacadag is a director, producer and a screenwriter widley famous for his work in  Horror genre. His work is famous because he is able to create a connection with his audience by adding cultural representation. He explores themes like Turkish folklore, islamic teachings, cultural superstitions and phycological aspects of fear. All these themes captivates Turkish and international audience because they can some how relate and build a link to to his work.

His ability to think out of the box and challenge western horror movies is truly commendable . The way he explored delicate subjects like dijinns, black magic, islamic teachings is very brave of him because he could easily get hated on for representing these topics incorrectly. yet he challenged all the society beliefs and made something truly worth appreciating. Hasan Karacadags innovative approach and reframing these tabos with a wider grasp led him to his success today. 

Dabbe a series which focuses on concept of  dijinn which are supernatural beings according to islamic and pre islamic Arabian folklore.This series revolves around how these supernatural entities interact with humans in terrifying and malevolent ways. The movies spin chilling notion of possession and supernatural forces impacts the audience worldwide. Out of millions of audience i am one of them who enjoys his work and got inspired to create our own short film on such themes.

 Despite working on low budgets he was able to create high impact horror films. the way he crafted intense atmospheric horror on low budget earned him respect in the film community. Me and my members are really inspired by his work specially "Dabbe". We will try to work on our our short film by getting inspiration from  his inventive use of sound and imagery and his boldness for working on sensitive topics on low budget.

Why i love his work?

I remember watching "dabbe the possession" with my bestfriend and i was truly in love with his work that day even though it terrified me. As a muslim i deeply connected with his work the way he managed to pull all the right strings to bring my fears to the surface was praiseworthy. The movie didn't have any horror activity which normal western horror movies have it revolved around the theme of black magic and me being a muslim we firmly believe that black magic is true and can happen on anyone. His work was admirable how he managed to show such dark aspects of society and jealousy. His movie made me question so many things and yet made me feel frightned and wanting more. Thats exactly how i want to make my audience feel through my work, scared yet wanting more, questioning beliefs and society and leaving a impression on their minds for days .
