WHEN PLANS CHANGE: Problems and Risks

A FEW UNEXPECTED TWISTS We had initially planned to hold our auditions on December 20th, but as things often go in the world of film production, life had other plans. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, half of our candidates couldn't make it on the scheduled day. With time ticking away, we quickly decided that we would need to split the auditions across two different days to ensure we didn’t miss anyone. To add more to the challenge, one of our main actors Neha fell ill, which delayed her arrival. Despite all the problems, we made it work and we were still able to audition half of the candidates which went amazing and we are very pleased with them. It wasn’t easy, but we’re grateful for the patience and flexibility of everyone involved. We're looking forward to moving ahead with the next steps in our casting process!

The excitement of our team is through the roof as we prepare to shoot. the props are ready and they aren't just objects, they are integral parts of our story. i cant wait to see everything come together on set. voodoo doll Spell Book

STORYBOARD

Image
STORYBOARD   This is the storyboard we created for our film opening  We’re planning to make Seytan with a clear and gripping storyline that’s easy to follow. I want each scene to connect smoothly with the next so the audience stays hooked from beginning to end. The main goal is to build a sense of fear and suspense that keeps viewers on edge and curious right till the final scene. To do this, I’ll mostly use static and wide shots. Static shots will let the audience focus on the characters and their emotions, while wide shots will show more of the environment, adding to the tension. I’m also going to use dark, cool color grading throughout the film to create a creepy, mysterious vibe that really pulls people into the world I’m building.

OUR MOODBOARD

Image
MOODBOARD  We created a mood board to visually develop the tone and atmosphere for our film’s opening scene. It includes images, color palettes, and frames from films that reflect the eerie and suspenseful vibe we’re aiming for. The mood board helped us stay focused on the overall look and feel we want to create, especially with lighting, setting, and costume ideas. Our film opening will draw direct inspiration from this mood board, using similar color grading, framing styles, and thematic elements to bring our vision to life.

MEETING TO DEVELOP OUR FILM

Image
SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT   MEETING After finalizing our script and location, we held a development meeting to align our visions and refine our ideas. One major inspiration was the film Cidgen, which had incredible cinematography. We were particularly drawn to its shot composition and decided to incorporate similar techniques, such as static shots, close-ups, and framing to amplify suspense and create a more immersive experience. We modified key scenes, initially considering a ghostly hand on the lead’s shoulder but later sticking to the original pot-falling moment. Instead of Neha simply falling, we made her get dragged down the stairs for added horror. To stay budget-friendly and safe, we swapped lanterns for candles. This meeting helped us shape a chilling, immersive experience that we’re eager to bring to life.

INTO THE UNKNOWN: Navigating The Risks of Filming In Remote

LOCATION RISK ANALYSIS-VILLAGE FILMING  Our location is about 45 mins away and the route there is extremely bumpy with unpaved roads that could become hazardous. Specially as the night approaches due to it being largely abandoned. KEY RISKS: 1.  ROAD CONDITIONS:    poor uneven roads which could cause delay. 2. TIMINGS & LATE RETURNS:  returning after dark is extremely risky due to poor lighting and isolation. Travelling late at night for girls is not safe in such areas. 3. SECURITY: In a village which is kind off abonded security concerns could rise. if our car break down on the way back or going no shops to get help from. no proper signals to contact people. 4. BAD WEATHER:  Bad weather could make the road situation much worse. 5. LIMITED MEDICAL ACCESS:  All medical facilities are far incase of emergency the nearest hospital is 45 mins away. Even with these risks we are still willing to shoot on our finalized location because we want our ...

ARRIVAL OF EQUIPMENT

Image
EQUIPMENT IS HERE! when we were concerned about our budget, a friend called with an incredible offer—lending us essential equipment like a lighting setup, a sturdy stand, a reliable tripod, and even a smoke machine. These were crucial for elevating our film’s quality, and getting them without cost was a huge relief. Since this gear is expensive, it significantly reduced our expenses.  Before the final shoot, we’ll do a pre-shoot to practice setting everything up and adjusting it properly. This not only improves our production but also gives us valuable hands-on experience. We’re beyond excited to start filming with this
