Image
METAPHORS & SYMBOLS Metaphor and Symbolism are two of those tools that help deepen meaning of literature, art and visual storytelling. these connect abstract ideas with tangible images to create richer interpretation & emotional engagement. WHAT IS METAPHOR? It is a figure of speech that describes an object or action as something other than what it actually is, basically drawing a comparison between two seemingly unrelated things. Metaphors help simplify complex concepts and emotions by relating them to something familiar. WHAT IS SYMBOLISM? By the help of objects, character or events you represent a larger theme this is what symbolism is. symbolism is when something is interpreted beyond its literal meaning. for instance a red rose its just a flower but in the world of literature and visual storytelling it stands for love, passion. 2nd MEETING

Image
MAKING FIRST DRAFT OF OUR SCRIPT Hiii! today i will be sharing my teams and my experience of finalizing our script....honestly we had a blast talking, deciding and imagining our dream project and we cannot wait to execute the way we imagined it. We chose to shoot in a really backward area like a old village, after much discussion we decided on a really old mansion to film because it works really well with the mood of our script. This mansion gives all the vibes we want like creepy yet beautiful, horror, mysterious. Our setting also depicts our main theme, basically we are trying to show how even in 2024 some people tend to have a very backward mindset and still believe in things like black magic and choose to practice it in their day to day life to get what they want. Some religions really believe in it and call it "worshipping the devil" so that's exactly what we will show 5 women who lost their faith and are worshipping the devil to get back at a girl. I think endings h...

OUR SCRIPT-----------SHEYTAN!

SEYTAN Scene 1 (Act 1) - Opening Scene INT. OUTDOOR COMMON AREA- NIGHT The camera slowly pans as NEHA enters the common area. holding a prayer mat. She unrolls the mat and begins her prayer, her movements slow and deliberate. NEHA (whispers a prayer, kneeling on the mat) As Neha prays, a gust of wind blows through the room, causing the lantern's flame to flicker erratically. The wind grows stronger, creating an ominous atmosphere. NEHA (startled, looks around) The lantern goes out completely,  plunging everything into darkness. Scene 1 (Act 2) INT. OUTDOOR COMMON AREA - NIGHT Neha gets up quickly and moves toward the lantern, attempting to reignite it. She hears a strange, eerie light shining from the basement windows, catching her attention. NEHA (quietly, to herself) What... is that light? She hesitates, then turns away to pick up the prayer mat, but as she does, she hears unsettling murmurs in the distance. NEHA (nervously) What’s going on? Neha   ignores her fe...

UNRAVELING THE CODE: Semiotics and Saussure’s Signifier-Signified Relationship

Image
FERDINAND SAUSSURE'S SIGNIFIER AND SIGNIFIED THEORY Semiotics? it is a study of signs and symbols and how they are used to communicate meaning. Semiotic theory is basically the relationship between a signifier and the signified. The swiss linguist Ferdinand saussure introduced this concept and this concept is the base of how we understand and construct meaning in language or other systems of communication. Today in my blog we will explore semiotics in detail and decode the theory of Saussure. WHAT IS SEMIOTICS: It is a field of study on signs and symbols and how they produce meanings. It encompasses everything that can stand for anything other then languages like, images, sounds, gestures, objects or even ideas. for example a red traffic light is a sign that communicates to us for stopping or the logo of adidas represents lifestyle and values by which people live. i hope this somewhat cleared your idea about "signs". As per Saussure the key to understand any sign is to know...

1st MEETING!

HORROR?MYSTERY? OR THRILLER? Selecting a genre is no easy feat, particularly since it forms the foundation of our entire project. Eventually, my team and I concluded that instead of choosing just one genre, we could blend elements from all of them. The real question then became: HOW do we achieve this? In a meeting, we decided to focus on the Horror genre while infusing it with elements of thrill and mystery. Thus, we are excited to introduce "Seytan," our original short horror film that we plan to film, create, and edit! drawing inspiration from the renowned  horror film "Dabbe" . Directed by our talented Hasan Karacadag, we aim to craft a story that is compelling, realistic, and engaging The narrative will center around a young girl who is facing a demonic curse...To fuel our creativity, we have watched various clips from films like THE NUN, CONJURING, and S!]JIN. Currently, we are developing the storyline, setting, characters, and the roles we will need. Fi...
