Metaphor and Symbolism are two of those tools that help deepen meaning of literature,art and visual storytelling. these connect abstract ideas with tangible images to create richer interpretation & emotional engagement.

WHAT IS METAPHOR?

It is a figure of speech that describes an object or action as something other than what it actually is, basically drawing a comparison between two seemingly unrelated things. Metaphors help simplify complex concepts and emotions by relating them to something familiar.


WHAT IS SYMBOLISM?

By the help of objects,character or events you represent a larger theme this is what symbolism is. symbolism is when something is interpreted beyond its literal meaning. for instance a red rose its just a flower but in the world of literature and visual storytelling it stands for love,passion.



POWER OF BOTH IN STORYTELLING

Metaphors & Symbols are a great tool which filmmakers use to help engage their reader or audience on a deep level. using these you create a multi-layered, rich experience for the audience which they can interpret in multiple ways and connect with it using personal connections.


METAPHORS & SYMBOLISM IN VISUAL STORYTELLING

Both of these play a very important role in visual storytelling  for instance if a dark stormy night is shown it could symbolize inner turmoil or conflict. these visual cues invite interpretation and provoke emotional response by your audience. by showing connection between two things. The writer deepens the meaning and significance of both the object or idea and the story itself making it much more interest peeking for the audience.

It follows a young girl who rises for Fajr prayer, only to sense an unsettling presence around her.
