Deakins is famous for his exceptional use of light, shadow and composition, which helps him engage viewers in the world of film. His cinematography has never been just about making things beautiful  its about enhancing the emotional and narrative depth of the story. the cold stark, beauty of Blade Runner 2049 or the haunting tactile realism of Skyfall are all great examples of his style and work.
